History
Painting has become for me a dialogue. Approaching each work with some kind of idea, I soon find a process of back and forth develops, taking me somewhere I had not envisaged. The battle is to express the inexpressable, those layers which build up our life.Using the landscape which has surrounded me for 27 years and which has been witness to all the ups and downs, I have been making paintings which I hope will communicate something to the viewer that is particular to them. There is no message, no narrative.
A new kind of work is unfolding at present using family letters from several generations, united by their threads of love, anger, disappointment, worry, achievement and grief to form their own landscape.
